Year 11 & 12

Our Year 11 and 12 students attended the VCE and Careers Expo on 29th April, it was a great excursion with so many of our students engaging directly with University and TAFE providers, attending seminars and learning more about a variety of different careers and industries.

Year 12 VTAC Dates

VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre) is the tertiary admissions centre that Year 12 students apply for their university and TAFE courses through. VTAC has released the 2022-2023 dates for current Year 12 students, including the date that ATAR and VCE results are released.

Further information, assistance, and support regarding the entire VTAC process will be provided to all Year 12 students closer to the date and all Year 12 students will be required to attend a mandatory one on one careers meeting at this time.

GEC Careers Website

Please take the time to check out our recently updated Glen Eira College Careers website, which includes some fantastic resources and information for both students and parents. Students can also register for their own private careers ‘profile’ where they can access templates for creating resumes and cover letters, as well as a tool for career investigating and virtual work experience. They can also complete a ‘career journey’ with different modules to learn more about themselves, career exploration, preparing for work, workplace health and safety, the world of work, enterprise skills, creating your own opportunities and post school options and planning.

Year 10

A reminder that our Year 10 Work Experience program will be running from 17th – 21st October 2022. Please encourage your Year 10 students to start exploring what they want to do for work experience during this week, as a lot of the more popular placements do fill up very quickly.

If anyone within the school community knows of an organisation that would be willing to take on Year 10 students who are passionate and excited about participating in work experience this year, please feel free to call me at the school, or alternatively you can email me at heather.palm@education.vic.gov.au
