BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a big two weeks at South Melbourne Park, with many people to thank.

ELECTION BBQ/CAKE STALL

The election BBQ raised $3871; this is a stunning effort. Thank you to parents for donating goods especially Andrew Schepisi who donated all the sausages. A big shout out to Stephen Miles, Sonia Komaravalli, Scott, and Anna Barden for their tireless work in making sure the day was a huge success.  We are truly gr

ateful to Families and Friends for donating their time and expertise so that the school can raise much needed funds.

 WALKATHON THANK YOU

Last Friday the students participated in the Walkathon helping to raise much needed funds for the new Year 2-6 play equipment.  It was great to see so many parents come and cheer the students.  A huge thank you to Stephen Miles our Families & Friends president and parent of Susie Year 1A for coordinating the event.  Special mention to Bryan Letch (parent of Amelie Prep D) for the fun warm up and cool down exercises and to Ms Lisa Paech for leading the house colour team chants.  Thank you to the parents and staff for assisting on the day.  Finally, a huge thank to Nathaniel for setting up the track and obstacle equipment. The walkathon is one of our main fundraisers for the year, so please collect monies promised as soon as possible.

 EDUCATION WEEK THANK YOU

Thank you to Johanne Abbott for organising Education Week activities and to Lisa Paech for preparing the school choir who performed for the very first time at assembly. It was a real joy to see parents attending our open day, it has been a long time since we have seen so many parents come into our classrooms.

2021 SCHOOL ANNUAL REPORT - REPORTING TO PARENTS NIGHT

We are presenting the 2021 School Annual Report to parents on Wednesday June 8 at 6:30PM.  The report is posted on the school website.  If you are interested in hearing about our 2021 student achievement, student attendance and student opinion survey data, please join the virtual google meeting by using this link. We hope to see many parents at this virtual meeting.

REDUCING THE SPREAD OF INFLUENZA

To help protect our school and the wider community, we ask that unwell students stay home, given the impacts of flu and colds on our school community.

To help reduce the spread of flu, colds and COVID-19, students are being encouraged to;

  • wash and sanitise their hands regularly
  • avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • cover their nose and mouth when they cough or sneeze
  • get tested for COVID-19 if they feel unwell and follow the current Department of Health isolation requirements if a positive result is shown
  • if unwell, stay at home until their symptoms pass.

Face masks are available in all schools and can be worn by any staff or students who wish to do so, including those who are medically at risk.

If your child does become sick while at school, please also ensure that we have correct emergency contact details for yourself. This is so we can get hold of you as quickly as possible.
