Farm News

Langwarrin Primary School is committed to recycling and reusing as much food waste as we can.

All the action takes place on our school farm, with students learning about composting and what the animals that call our school home can eat.

Most of our fruit stop scraps go to feed the chooks, guinea pigs and our sheep on our school farm. Anything left is composted and used in our garden beds.

This week we had Aaron Gionis visit from Maze Distribution to talk to our Year 1 students about the importance of composting and what it can be used for.

Maze has donated to our school a 245LT MAZE Tumbler and a full school set of MAZE compost bins for every classroom to collect compostable food to be used in the farm.

All students and staff are very grateful for MAZE’s generous donation which will be in action in classrooms and our kitchen garden shortly.

This week the LPS farm welcomed some new residents.

Coda and Delilah are 1 year old Hampshire Down ewe lambs and Juno is an 8 month old Black and Coloured Corriedale. They are settling into their new home and getting to know the students.

A favourite part of their day is fruit scrap time!
