Oxley Take Silver and Bronze at EISM Cross Country

The EISM Cross Country Carnival recently took place for the first time in three years. Although we were blessed with great weather, it was very muddy underfoot, due to all the rain leading up to the event that took place on Wednesday 31 August at Ruffey Lake Park, Doncaster East.

Organisers of the event decided on the day that all age groups will run only 3km due to the wet course. All 21 schools in the three divisions of the EISM ran in each age group at the same time, although the divisions points were calculated separately.

The original date of the EISM Cross Country had to move a week earlier due to a clash with the GAT date for VCE students. For Oxley, that meant we were without our Year 9 students who were on camp. Younger students filled a few of the positions in the U/15 age group, but it was big shoes to fill without the Year 9s present.

Two of our runners received medals. Audrey Oastler (12.9) won a silver medal in the Girls Open Division and Jessica Graham (10.4) won bronze in the U/16 Girls Division. Congratulations to our medal winners on a great run on the day. It was a terrific day over all for our students. We even received a letter from a parent from another school who complimented our students on their great sportsmanship and behaviour.

Our Seniors (Year 10 - Year 12) officially ended their participation in EISM Sport this term with divisional Grand Finals on Wednesday 24 August as reported in a previous edition.

Year 7 finished their Term 3 competition on Monday 5 September and the Year 8/9s their competition with Grand Finals on Thursday 8 September. The Year 8/9 teams that played Grand Finals this term were Boys and Girls Basketball A, Girls Basketball B and Girls Table Tennis A. Our Basketball A Girls were premiers! Congratulations to the girls for a great season and all the other teams for making it to the grand finals.

It was great to acknowledge our students for their contributions in Sport in Terms 2 and 3 during various medal assemblies in the Stadium and the BPAC.

Below is a list of all the students who received medals for Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Best Team Player (BTP) for their outstanding contribution to Sport during Term 2 and 3.
