Leadership Report

We've had a great start to term 2. Although COVID-19 continues to affect staff and student attendance, everyone has had a positive start. The late burst of autumn weather has certainly helped!

Our Year 3 and Year 5 students are currently sitting their NAPLAN tests. This time of the year tends to raise the level of anxiety of students and parents alike. Whilst we want students to do their best, NAPLAN is only one part of the greater picture of their learning. Students can have a bad day, and given all that our young people have had to deal with over the past 2 years, it's not the end of the world if they don't do as well as expected.

I have been pleased to see our students excited by the challenge and willing to give it their best. That's all we can ask.

COVID-19 restrictions are easing slightly from week 3. We can resume indoor assemblies with a limited number of parents in attendance. We'll share information with families once we've finalised the details. Let's hope that we continue to see restrictions ease further over the coming weeks.

Reception to Year 2 swimming will take place in Week 4 and Week 5 at the ARC. We are fortunate to have secured a yearly booking for our school at this new facility. Year 3 to Year 5 swimming will be coming up later in the year.

We have a pupil free day on Friday 10th June. We are getting together with our local partnership primary schools to further our knowledge of metacognitive strategies, goal setting and peer assessment. This marks the beginning of a 2 year project  within our partnership.  OSHC is available so please make sure you book in soon.

Safety around school pick up times is always a concern. The increased traffic restrictions on Magill Road seems to have come with an increase in frustration from motorists. I urge all motorists to remain calm and patient so that our students and families remain safe at drop off and pick up.

Kind regards
