Principal's Report

What a sensational week we have had!

OPEN NIGHT:

We had a fantastic turnout for Open Night - it turns out we are all mathematicians!

Many thanks to our sensational staff for putting together such a fun night, with lots of different activities.

Thanks also to our amazing Andersons Creek community for supporting our event.

So many students were so excited and it was wonderful to see everyone back on site.

Today in our special Assembly we drew out the winners of the prizes. Those winners will be get their prizes on Monday because all our grade 3/4 students are on excursion today in the City.

SCHOOL TOURS:

Our Grade 6 Leaders are working on a roster to help run school tours for prospective families coming to ACPS.

On recent tours I have taken 2 different students each time with me as we tour the school. Its a great way for families to get an insight into what its like to be an ACPS student. We are getting lots of positive feedback. Thank you to all our leaders.

KILOMETRE CLUB:

In case you have been wondering why your child is wanting to be at school early - its because we have Kilometre Club on every morning on the oval at 8.45am.

All students are welcome to join in, any day or every day!

A big thank you to our leaders for their commitment in running the show every morning and recording the number of laps every student does.

MONDAY MAY 30 - No students required at school.

Staff Professional Development Day.

Theircare is available ( Outside school care).

GRADE 3/4 CAMP:

We cant wait to take our Grade 3/ 4 students to Phillip Island.

I'm so glad camps are back. I believe that camps provide amazing opportunities for our young people, they allow a space for all students to explore their own capabilities, strengthen emotional skills and develop confidence through inclusive, fun activities.

NUDE FOOD EVERY WEDNESDAY. Please try to bring lunch with only reusable containers each Wednesday. Nude Food is good for your health and the environment and helps keep our playground beautiful. Classes will compete against each other for the 'Rubbish free Lunch' trophy which will be awarded at Assembly each week.

SCULPTURE at The Pines: (beginning of June)

Make sure you pop into the Pines to see our display for World Environment Day! It will be on display until Friday 17th June. A huge thank you to our wonderful Arts Captains - Cass, Daniel, Kai and Tessa - for giving up some lunch times to help design and make our large fish and for sticking the many smaller fish onto the vertical fishing lines. The Arts Captains also helped to oversee the busy lunch times where all students were invited to come to the art room to paint the small plastic milk-bottle fish. A big thank you also to the Green Thumbs team and the many students who came and painted those fish; there were a lot of fish! Our display wouldn't be the same without your help.

Finn was proud to see ACPS represented at The Pines - thanks Finn!

Another huge 'thank you' to all the generous ACPS families, and staff, for the plentiful donations of plastics. We sure had a lot, many thanks!  :)

It is estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the oceans and waterways than fish. Many marine animals ingest or become entangled in these plastics. As our school is close to the beautiful Birrarung (Yarra) river, we want to take especially good care of our waterways. Through our sculpture we wanted to highlight that ACPS is committed to helping our planet through 1) reducing our use of soft plastics by encouraging nude food, and 2) by responsibly recycling soft plastics.  Let's do our part to keep our oceans and waterways as healthy as possible :)
