In the lead up to cross country all the year levels were busy getting ready by running laps of our track. After two months the big day came where we went head-to-head against all of our friends. We started off the day by a fun race where all the preps ran around the oval with their Grade 6 buddies! It was so much fun and the preps all enjoyed themselves. Afterwards, each year level starting from Grade 1 through to Grade 6 ran their race. The 4 to 6s were competing for a spot at District. Everyone tried their personal best to cross the finish line! We could tell that everyone was proud of their efforts no matter where they came! All the smiles as you crossed the finished line! Grade 5/6 was putting in their all to complete 3km!
From Harry and Orla Prep B:
“I liked running with my buddy Sierra. We came first!” Said Orla “I loved eating a cookie, but I had a wobbly tooth so I couldn’t eat an apple!”, said Harry.
From Riley and Victoria in Grade 2:
“I liked seeing everyone having fun, and the food was great! At the end the dance party was awesome.”
From Lexie in 6B:
“ I was proud of myself because I beat my score from the past few years”
On Tuesday the 24th of May, some lucky people raced in the District Cross Country. The people who placed top 10 from grade 4 to 6 in the school Cross Country made it through to District! We had some amazing runners racing in District, and for that Wonga Park Primary placed a fantastic 4th! We had a few very fast runners get into the top 10 again, now on their way to Division. The day was very exhilarating with runners all around and a great outing with our friends.

Everyone did an amazing job and all had so much fun! Thank you to Mr Holland, Miss Jess, Mrs Pike and Kerri Allan. Everyone should feel so proud!

NAPLAN is a test that Grade threes and fives take. The Grade threes this year have taken this test recently, and some have been kind enough to tell us a bit about how it went. Sophie from 3B said that she enjoyed that the classroom was quiet, and so did another girl from 3B, Eden. Ava liked that they got lots of time on their iPads. Almost an hour each test! The two boys that we interviewed are next. Cade said that his highlight of doing NAPLAN was that they didn’t have to sit on the floor, and instead sat at their tables. Liam was the only one who said that he enjoyed one of the actual tests, and said that math was his favourite.
The grade 1s and 2s have had an extraordinary start to Term 2! One of the key elements that the students have been working on lately is their emotions. They have become rather fond of the topic and they have had so much fun using their faces to show what emotion they are feeling! They brainstormed some ideas on what to do when they feel worried and they came up with many ways to help them relax. I can tell that this task will help them in many ways in the future! -“We learned about being happy and I love being happy!” -Harper -“It’s cool how our faces can change when we feel different things!” -Eden Our school was very lucky and had a very special person from Dance Curriculum come to our school and teach us some fun dance moves! Each year level had their turn on learning a choreographed routine which had fun new moves and a cool song! It was tons of fun and the grade 1 and 2s had super fun!
“My favourite was the Mexican wave!” -Riley -
“I loved learning new dance moves!” -Victoria
We have loved seeing the grade 1 and 2s thrive throughout the year, and we can’t wait to see what else they can achieve!
The Preps loved bringing their teddies and sharing their lunch with their buddies at the teddy bear picnic.
They enjoyed all the crafts they did relating to the teddy bear picnic. They coloured in some beautiful teddy bear bookmarks to go in their book box. They all adored their maths activity where they got to measure their teddies and find out how big they were. To do this they traced their teddy and put blocks around the outline and counted the blocks, Charlie from Prep C had 107 blocks!
All the preps where excited to eat some special food with their teddy and buddy. Harry from Prep B was excited to drink some juice as well as a lot of other preps. Amali was looking forward to all the treats she packed for her buddy.
