SCHOOL COUNCIL NEWS
Appointment of School Principal
The Fitzroy Primary School Council is very excited to announce that Angela Richmond has today been provisionally appointed in the permanent role of School Principal. In accordance with the Department of Education and Training’s merit based selection process, Angela’s provisional appointment will be confirmed after two weeks.
This is a fantastic result for Angela, and for our whole school community. Angela’s commitment to Fitzroy Primary School over the last 12 months has been outstanding: she has a clear vision for the future stability and growth of the school, a passion for developing resilient individuals, and is skilled in creating opportunities for all students to achieve their full potential as global citizens.
A recently assembled ‘Principal Selection Panel’ comprising representatives from the Department of Education and Training, School Council, staff and parents were responsible for shortlisting, interviewing and selecting a suitable candidate from nine high-quality applicants. The panel assessed each applicant using key selection criteria based on: Vision and Values; Teaching and Learning; Improvement, Innovation and Change; Management; Development; and Engagement. Applicants also responded to a community criterion centred on their capacity and commitment to lead a quality bilingual education program within a culturally and linguistically diverse community.
This is a significant outcome for our school. We are now well and truly on the way to becoming the destination school for both local families, and for families travelling to Fitzroy to access our quality French bilingual program. Angela’s commitment to staff, families, students and our local community will ensure Fitzroy Primary has a robust and thriving future. Congratulations, Angela - we wish you every success!
