Toddler's Cubby house

We have had some beautiful winter days, our children enjoy their outdoor space. This week our children helped out building their cubby house outside. Our children have been showing us their interest in building small cubby houses inside our room under our furniture. This space will allow our children to take themselves to quiet space, where they have a comfortable space to fuel their imagination or just a peaceful place to go to.

Toddler room's favourite story book

During group time we have continued reading the " When the snake bites the sun". this story has become one of their favourites in our room. we asked our children if they would like to paint the sun and a few of our children called out " yes". We bought out the easel after morning tea, and our children were each given a turn in painting their sun, using their imagination.

Dreamtime Story Painting:

Outside our room we have created our little gallery with our children's creative " Aboriginal Story Painting".  In our last newsletter, I have mentioned, that we have introduced our children to 'Aboriginal Story Painting', which is based on dream time stories. Over the last week our children have had the opportunity to created their very own ' Dream time story painting'. Underneath each painting is a little blurb, explaining the meaning behind each child's ' dreamtime story painting'.

We are learning about our emotions:

During our group times we have been speaking about our emotions, how we express each emotions. Educator Nuria, would draw a face of a child in the room with their face expression of; sad, happy, scared, excited. The toddlers would react by either copying the same emotion or call out what emotion was drawn on the whiteboard and then guess who Nuria has drawn. This activity has become one of their favourite, everyone would ask if Nuria can draw their face.  The children are showing us their understanding of emotions, through expressing themselves to us, through verbal communication and through body language.

We have reached winter,  cold and gloomy days!!!

as we are heading into winter and colder, rainy days, we would like to us our parent's if you could pack a pair of gum boots, warm winter jacket and beanie for your child. Our program is indoor and outdoor, where our children can be physically active, running, jumping into muddles and climbing.

Thank you from the toddler room,

Nuria, Olga, Inoka and Manorika
