School Council News

From the President

G’day!

It has been great to see the canteen up and running again this term.  A huge thanks to Annette for her work in getting it up and to all those who have been working behind the scenes in 2019 to get to this point (you know who you are!).  I’ve had some wonderful, positive feedback from kids, parents and even teachers!

School review

The school strategic plan runs on a 4 year cycle with the strategic plan created at the beginning of the cycle then each year an Annual Implementation Plan is created to execute on the strategy in manageable chunks.  It’s a big deal, quite complex and involves people from the Department of Education and Training, and peers from other schools.  I find it interesting to see just how much academic best practice goes into what the school does day to day.  The review is going to be a focus for the school council, the leadership team, staff and students this year.  There will be opportunities for input from the school community, so stay tuned.

Bottom oval

Hopefully you have had a chance to see the Masterplan.  It’s been sent around a couple of times and it’s up on the wall in the school office.  The landscape architects have put together a beautiful and inspirational plan and the next step is to start on Stage 1, the drainage.  Not very exciting, but very important!

Council elections

We have a bunch of returning council members, and a couple of new starters.  Thanks to everyone that expressed interest and put their hand up.  We’re looking forward to an important year in the life of the school.  We had just the right number of applicants to fill the vacant positions.  People will be elected into the specific roles at the next meeting at the Annual General Meeting on the 18th of March.  Everyone is welcome to attend the AGM from 7 pm on the 18th in the library.

School Fair!

This year is the school fair, which runs every second year.  We’re looking for an organised person with strong project management skills to take on the role of organising the fair.  We have a plan in place and good documentation from previous years, and the previous organisers volunteered to provide guidance along the way.  You’ll also have the support of school staff, council and a team of volunteers.  If you or someone you know might be interested please contact me, your teacher Susanne or Theresa Stewart.

Last, but definitely not least, a huge, huge thank you to Jacquie White.  Jacquie has been the school president for the last two years.  I had the privilege of serving as the Vice President last year with Jacquie and she was an amazing role model.  I’ve personally benefited enormously from her leadership and the school is a better place because of her efforts.  Thanks Jacquie!

Thanks,

Greg Campbell
