PMP

PMP- Perceptual Motor Program.

The importance of this program is to promote the development of a child’s gross motor and fine motor skills through various types of movement and incorporating hula hoops to initiate hip movement as well as coordination and lateral thinking. It is highly recommended that children in early stages of development participate in these programs which also encourages growth in a child’s social and emotional development. Our PMP sessions are ran twice a term with Bek Buckley (Education support staff) supervising and our wonderful Year 5/6 students running them.

The first PMP session for the year was so much fun! It was so busy, and we had lots of babies and toddlers. It was quite loud and lots of soft foam balls were thrown around! But the kids kept having fun running, jumping, sliding, catching and throwing things! Here are some of the things the Year 5/6’s liked about PMP:

  • Getting to know the little kids
  • To play with the kids
  • Making sure that they are not afraid of older kids in the future
  • That all the kids had fun
  • Mucking around with the kids
  • I like PMP because it’s fun and I like playing with the kids
  • Teaching the little kids to play nicely
  • I was playing all the games with the little kids
  • It was a good experience for all year sixes because they have buddies
  • It was a good experience for responsibilities
