Sports and Camps

Athletics

Weeks 2 and 3 have provided the students opportunities to continue learning and developing their athletic skills. The countdown is on for our Athletics Days in the last week of Term One.

Last week the Foundation and One/Two students have been engaged in Running and Overhand Throw. This week they are enhancing their skills at the Broad Jump and Hurdles.

The Three/Fours and Five/Six students honed in on their Sprinting and Discus throwing techniques last week and this week their athletic focus has been Long Jump and the 200m.

Tennis

On the 12th of February, 8 students represented Miners Rest Primary School at the Primary Schools Tennis Competition at the Regional Tennis Centre. They had a great experience and put in a great effort competing against other students from different schools.

Results for the Day:

Campbell Mc and Archer B - 17th

Jarvis W and Charlie B - 11th

Zarli C and Isabella B - 9th

Remmy W and Karinda H - 3rd.

Well done to the 8 students who attended the competition and thank you to all of the students who tried out. Also, a huge thank you to Marion Bennett who attended and supervised the students at the event.

Sports Equipment

Thank you to the Sport Shed Monitors from Room 12. They have shown great leadership in ensuring students are returning their sports equipment at the end of Recess and Lunch.

Can all students be reminded to continue being responsible with the sports equipment and returning it as soon as the music starts. Students are not to enter the Blue Hall or the Sports Shed without permission from a teacher. This includes before school, after school and at recess and lunch. If additional equipment is required during recess and lunch, please speak to Katherine or Rick.

Sunscreen

Just a reminder that our PE lessons will be mostly outside. Please ensure students are wearing sunscreen prior to coming to school to prevent unnecessary sun burn.  If necessary, encourage students to reapply their own sunscreen before lunch time.
