From the

Principal

Dear Parents / Carers,

Term Two will end at 2.30pm on Friday 23 June. We have had a wonderful term of learning. In the latest Friday program, our student leaders have interviewed various students and invited them to share their reflections on their learning for this term. The Year Three and Four choir performed at assembly last week and the performance is also featured in this edition of the Friday program. See link below . . .

The school will be closed on Monday 19 June for a Professional Practice Day. Our teachers will use this day for planning and professional reading.

This is advance notice that the school will be closed on Monday 10 July for a Curriculum Day. Our teachers will be working with Alan Wright who is a consultant and author on inspiring our students to be authors. Team Kids operates when the school is closed for Professional Practice or Curriculum Days. Bookings can be made at: https://www.teamkids.com.au/venues/rowville-primary/

We have been successful in our application for a Grant under Schools-Aboriginal Partnerships. The Djirri Djirri Aboriginal Women’s Dance Group will perform Biik, an Acknowledgement of Country dance with explanations, at the Friday assembly on 16 June to celebrate the Wurundjeri culture and importance of lands. Parents are invited to attend our assemblies.

Payments for the deposit for the Years 3 to 6, 2023 Beyond Boundaries Camp Program are now open. Attached to this newsletter is an expression of interest form for parents that would like to assist on the program. Please complete if you are interested in being a parent helper. Part of the planning process for any activity that involves either bringing groups into the school or taking students out of the school includes a comprehensive risk assessment. Only buses that have seat belts are used to transport students. The teachers on the bus supervise students and ensure all students remain in seats and continue to wear seat belts.

We have made an addition to the school uniform. A beanie will be available from the beginning of Term Three. It is in the process of being embroidered now. In the meantime, the beanie is already on the website if parents would like to order now:

Anything ordered now will be placed on back order and delivered when stock is available.

Enrolments for Foundation 2024 are now due. The official closing date is Friday 28 July 2023, and it is important that we receive the enrolment forms of siblings before this date. All siblings are guaranteed an enrolment at Rowville Primary School.

At the end of this term, we will say thank you and farewell to Mrs Coveney and Mrs Towse who have both added much value to student learning at Rowville Primary School.  We wish both Mrs Coveney and Mrs Towse all the very best for the future.

I wish all our families a wonderful term break and look forward to the commencement of Term Three at 8.45am on Tuesday 11 July.

Kind regards,

Anne Babich
