Autism Inclusion Teacher

Hello Families,

As you may have heard, the Autism Inclusion Teacher (AIT) role is a major priority for our state and every school in South Australia. Within my teaching role, I have a day a fortnight fulfilling the AIT role here at Marion Primary School.

Last term I continued to build upon my teaching expertise, knowledge and understanding of autism through engaging in formal face to face and online learning opportunities and in regular AIT network meetings. I attended the first two-day workshop presented by Positive Partnerships and began utilising some of this learning with colleagues in the middle primary learning space.

This term I begin looking at the ‘big picture’ of students with autism at our site. I will be facilitating/supporting student-teacher conversations, connecting with parents and will continue to build on my capacity to work alongside colleagues and students.
