Reception Excursion to Migration Museum

On Tuesday 6th June, Room 1 went on an excursion to the Migration Museum and the SA Museum.

At the Migration Museum, the students participated in a workshop to learn what it was like to be a child in the 19th Century, over 150 years ago.

The students needed to wear what children wore in that time and wrote on slate boards with a slate stylus. They learnt about different tools that were used like a chamber pot, hand-held beater and meat mincer.

The session concluded with the students playing as children would have 150 years ago: learning hoop trundling, knucklebones, and quoits.

Students had lunch and a play outside of the SA Museum before exploring inside in small groups. The most popular exhibits included the mammals, biodiversity gallery, and the giant squid.

Thanks to all the parents and staff members who helped, making excursions possible. Please enjoy our photos below of the day!

Many thanks,

Room 1 and Miss Menner
