Student News

SLC7

Every day in SLC 7 we give our students opportunities to engage in reading and writing experiences involving the purposeful use of text.

With the assistance of alternative access communication systems, we engage in personalized reading and writing opportunities. Our class produces regular student publications with high levels of student interaction.

The students particularly enjoy working with the staff to select words that contribute to their writing process.

This past week we participated in the national simultaneous reading challenge and the students enjoyed reading ‘The Speedy Sloth’. Each student had the opportunity to share their opinion about this enjoyable text.

Here we can see Steven independently communicating using the eye gaze. Sarah is working on her literacy skills with Melissa. Massimo is using Yes and No responses. Joseph is communicating using his PODD.
