Message from the Principal

Achieving Excellence Together

Dear Families,

This week our attention was captured by the devastating incidents endured by the students of Exford Primary School who were involved in a road accident including their bus and a truck. A number of students have endured life-changing injuries as a result and our thoughts have been with them and their families at this difficult. I have been in touch with the Team at Exford Primary School and offered our communities full support at this most challenging of times. This is also an opportunity for us to reflect on our school risk management and safety practices when transporting students which includes buses to excursions. At our School, all student excursions are brought forward to the School Council for approval and include risk management plans for travel and at the venue. All bus travel is through reputable and tested providers and a conscious effort is made to arrange buses with seat belts for every passenger.  We will continue to make student safety and wellbeing our priority and search for ways to strengthen our practices.

APS Reading Challenge

This term our Literacy Team set the challenge to every class to increase the amount of reading every student does each night. Each week, Mr Taylor calculates the percentage of nights read by each class to eventually crown the reading champions of Albanvale Primary School.

What can you do?

Help your child read every single day (even on weekends!) and sign it in their school diary. This is checked by their teacher each morning as part of the morning routine. Check out the article in this newsletter to find out more about how your child's class is performing.

HELP WANTED!

We are looking for me people to be involved with our Parent Fundraising Committee. This is organised and administered by parents with the intention of raising funds for projects around the school. We have a calendar of set events including stalls for Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Christmas with the potential of doing even more. The success of our Parent Fundraising Committee so any way you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. All you need is a valid working with children's check which is free online.
