Student Leaders Corner

The previous nine weeks have gone by quickly, making it seem like time is running out; and yet we still have the pleasure of creating long lasting memories with one another.

Beginning with our ANZAC assembly earlier this term, our school community had the honour to pay our respects to those who gave their lives fighting for Australia and all the affected families. A week later, the Year 12 Leadership Camp was held and it was an amazing program to be a part of, where the leaders had built stronger relationships with each other and with the teachers, learnt more about ourselves and others. As a group we are planning on how we can execute our ideas to assist in improving our school culture and community.

Our seven Houses have also decided on their charities to support for the year with the help of the SRCs and House Captains. As for one of our main events of the year, we had our Athletics Carnival which was a huge success. Despite the cloudy whether, the students and teachers enjoyed their day in participating and encouraging House culture and spirit. The Year 12s carried the day with their costumes, energy and as it was their last Athletics Day, they were making the most of their memories to celebrate how far they’ve come in school. Since then, we’ve had several sports events, science competitions, STEM events, Year10/11 exams, the Careers Expo and the GAT. It’s incredible to see all the things that we’ve been through as a school and how we make the best decisions we can to benefit not just ourselves but others around us.

With the last week ahead of us, the announcement of our annual Chorals competition has created excitement within the school and is making its comeback this Thursday. Chorals has given students another opportunity to spread positivity, House culture and spirit, and obviously a friendly competition between the Houses.

As the term is ending, on behalf of the student leaders, I’d like to thank the students and teachers for persevering through this term, overcoming challenges and trying to be the best they can be. May you all enjoy this much needed break, take care and we’ll see you in Term 3 :)
