On Wednesday the 10th of May the year 9 Design Engineering Academy were invited to attend the Manufacturing and Engineering Expo as part of Australian Manufacturing Week.
The students listened to an expert panel of engineers share their journeys into engineering and then explored the many engineering, manufacturing and trade exhibits to complete a scavenge hunt.
Students were able to make real connections between how their learning at school connects to the real world and explore potential future pathways. We thank our industry partners, the Verniers foundation, for inviting us and providing such a wonderful opportunity.
On the 23rd of May students in the Design Engineering Academy got to participate in the Day Of AI. The students had the opportunity to work with Computer Sciences students from Swinburne University to develop their understanding of Artificial Intelligence. Students enjoyed learning about how Artificial Intelligence works and it's many uses.
Earlier this term, the Year 9 Design Engineering Academy students were invited to attend the Australian Manufacturing Week exhibition. As part of this experience, our students were invited to enter a competition through the Verniers Foundation to demonstrate their understanding of the manufacturing process.
The competition was sponsored through manufacturing company Okuma. We are pleased to announce that a number of our students received awards, including first place going to Aura of 9B, who won a tablet worth over $800!
Congratulations to all students involved.
