The King VS Humpty Dumpty

Check out these photos of the 11LEG1 class participating in a mock trial to consolidate the learning they did in Unit 1, AoS 3. Students put the King on trial for negligence over Humpty Dumpty’s fall off a wall in his kingdom. They prepared opening and closing statements, questioned witnesses and cross examined them. We had three judges who found that the King was in fact, innocent in this case! Humpty Dumpty wasn’t very pleased that not only was he banned from climbing another wall ever again, but he also had to ‘pay the Kings legal fees’. Students had a blast working together for three periods to prepare their client's cases and then present them. This trial has become a cherished tradition in Year 11, with a similar event running in Year 12 each year. For many students, these trials are definitely a highlight!

Year 11 Geography Field Trip to Melbourne CBD!

We are excited to share the highlights of the Year 11 Geography field trip, where students had an amazing opportunity to explore technological hazards in Melbourne's CBD. Specifically, they focused on understanding how electronic scooters, air and noise pollution, heavy traffic vehicles and other transportation modes impact the safety and wellbeing of individuals.

During the trip, the students visited three important locations within the city centre as part of their research. These locations were:

  1. Corner of Flinders Street and Swanston Street
  2. State Library of Victoria, Corner La Trobe and Swanston Street
  3. Batman Park

At each site, the students observed and studied the technological hazards present in these areas. They gathered valuable information to better understand how these hazards affect people's lives and explored effective strategies to reduce their impact.
