Highlighting students who are achieving great things in the community

Senior Ethics Olympiad

It has been a busy week for our Gifted and Talented students. It began on Monday with the Senior Ethics Olympiad, which saw seven boys from Years 10 and 11 compete against students from local and international schools.

Some topics discussed included: Lookism and Free Cosmetic Surgery; National Service; Death and Taxes; and Bullfighting: Art or Not?

On Tuesday, students from Years 7 and 8 attended the da Vinci Decathlon at the University of Western Australia. The theme for the day was Unity, and students completed tasks in ten different disciplines. Our Year 7 team came Third in both the Engineering and Science rounds. This was a magnificent effort, and they should be proud of themselves.

Then on Wednesday, the Year 9 and 10 boys had their da Vinci Decathlon day at the University of Western Australia. This time, both teams performed stellar, with the Year 9 team coming First in the General Knowledge section, while the Year 10 team came Second in English.

A big thank you to Leah Rogers and Wanda Jurek for their assistance with the da Vinci Decathlon, and to all the students who made each event especially enjoyable.
