Assembly

Last Friday students in 5/6 B with Mel presented.  The class presented the audience with quite the conundrum.

This term in Grade 5/6 M, we have been focusing on persuasive writing.

Students have learnt the ins and outs of how to structure a persuasive piece, ensuring they use persuasive devices to strengthen their writing. Persuasive devices include Facts and Statistics, Exaggeration, Rhetorical Questions, Emotive Language, Repetition, Alliteration, Rule of 3 and Modality.

Later in the term, students will work towards creating a persuasive speech, in which they will try to convince their peers of a certain topic or idea.

Last week in class, Mel gave students a challenge. They had to create a muffin or cupcake that both children and parents would want to buy. The catch was, students had to put a vegetable and a fruit into their creations to ensure it was nutritious and delicious.

Students all got very creative and designed some delightful products. However, they needed to use their persuasive devices to be really convincing. Here are their creations… Are you hungry yet?

Thank you to our presenters River, Chelsea, Nina, Tully.
