Principal's Message
Swimming
This week all of our students participated in our annual swimming program held at Gisborne Aquatic and Leisure Centre. The program is aimed to promote water safety and teach important skills to our students. Our students had a great time while also learning about the importance of water safety. The program included a range of activities such as pool games and water safety lessons.
Bunnings BBQ
I just wanted to give a big shoutout to all the amazing staff and Bolinda family volunteers who were able to help with the Bunnings BBQ! It was a busy day, but we managed to raise over $2800 for our school! We couldn't have done it without your help and support.
I also wanted to say a huge thank you to Coles (Sunbury), Foodworks (Riddells Creek), and Woolworths (Sunbury) for their generous donations of sausages, sauce, drinks, and bread. Thank you to Bek who sourced the donations for us which meant we were able to increase our profits.
And of course, a big thank you to all the families who volunteered their valuable time to assist in running the BBQ. Also, those families from our community who came along and bought a sausage and drink. Your contribution to our school means so much to us! A special thanks to Anna who has spent countless hours organising the Bunnings BBQ, and Meryn & Tania for their help as part of the Fundraising Team.

Mother's Day Stall
We hope all the wonderful mothers, grandmothers, and special carers had a lovely Mother's Day on Sunday. Our fundraising team organised a special Mother's Day stall for the students to purchase small gifts for their loved ones. Thank you to our amazing fundraising team for volunteering their time and effort to make this special day possible. It's important to note that this stall was not a fundraiser, but rather a special event for the children to purchase something for their special person in their life.
Interschool Sports - Soccer
Last Friday, our Year 3 - 6 students had a great time participating in the interschool soccer event at Dixon Field in Gisborne. Mr Steere coached the team with the support of Nicole and they all did an amazing job. Although we didn't win any games, we managed to draw one of them! Throughout the day, our students showed exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship, which made us all proud. A big thank you to Mr Steere and Nicole for guiding the students and helping to make the day such a success. Thank you to Justine and Meryn who drove the children to the ground.
Education Week
During Education Week, which ran from Sunday 14 to Saturday 20 May, our school celebrated the theme Active Learners: Move, Make, Motivate, which highlighted the many ways students learn, including through physical activity, hands-on learning, and student voice.
As part of our celebration, we had an open morning on Wednesday, May 17 where families were invited to join their child in the classroom for 10 minutes and see firsthand how we encourage active learners through our learning programs we offer here at Bolinda Primary School. It was a fantastic opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the joy of learning.
Communication
I wanted to take a moment to highlight the importance of reading and staying up-to-date with the communication sent out by the school. We try our best to give keep you updated with the news, events, and organisation of things. As a school, we understand that life can get busy and sometimes it can be challenging to keep track of all the information sent home. If you have any questions or need assistance accessing the newsletters or uEducateUs, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Building Works
We are excited to share that the construction of our new balustrades has finally been completed! They are sturdy, secure, and meet all the latest safety and bushfire-compliant standards. Our school looks much better now that the makeshift barriers have been replaced.
Compass
We have some exciting news to share about a new parent portal system we will be moving to. Our contract with uEducateUs expires at the end of the year which means we will completely switch to Compass in 2024. I have been using Compass since 2015 and I have extensive experience with it. I am very confident that it will cater to our school community's needs. I will be providing further information about Compass in Term 4.
On behalf of our staff, we would like to express our heartfelt sympathy and solidarity with Exford Primary School in the wake of the tragic bus incident that occurred on Tuesday. Our deepest sympathies go out to the children and families affected by this devastating event, and we acknowledge the profound and lasting impact it will have on their lives.
