Girls Footy and Boys Netball Tournament

On Friday the 14th of July, Epping Views PS took 3 teams to the Girls Footy and Boys Netball tournament hosted by Marymede College. The students competed against all the other schools in the Bridge Inn district in a round robin format, finishing with finals for the top teams.

It was a gallant effort from our boys' netballs teams, with both EVPS 1 and EVPS 2 winning most of their games. Battling the wind proved an obstacle for all teams involved in the outdoor games, but we managed to score plenty of goals in each game and kept competitive throughout.

A big shout out to EVPS 1 who beat Harvest Home PS in the 3rd v 4th final.

As well as this, 6WA student Luke Busuttil won the Netball shootout competition with 18 goals in 1 minute. Top effort Luke!

Another big congratulations to our Epping Views footy girls for a showing terrific teamwork, communication and skill on the field. They went unbeaten during the tournament until going down to a very good Marymede side in the final. Awesome effort girls!

A big thank you to Gary Rankin for coaching the girls’ team and travelling with the group. Students enjoyed a wonderful event and demonstrated resilience, respect and teamwork across the day.

Well done to all the students involved!

The past week has been  very busy with lots of sports being played by our students.

Division Soccer

On Tuesday, our Boys' Soccer Team qualified and played in the Division Soccer Tournament at Doreen United against schools from Bundoora, Mill Park, Mernda, Thomastown and Wallan. In a round robin format, our team played extremely well winning 3 out of 5 games. After winning our first 2 games we fell short against St. Francis who ended up winning the competition on the day.

Some stand outs of the day were Liam, Eliel, and Pranav for their determination throughout the day, and the two Grade 5 boys, Adam, and George for chipping in with a couple of goals. Unfortunately they didn’t qualify to the next round. We look forward to next year.

I am most proud of the positive feedback I received from teachers from the other schools on how our students behaved and conducted themselves throughout the whole day. Well done!

Netball

Last week our Year 3 & 4s were lucky to have a Melbourne Vixen Netball Coach visit the school. Each student participated in an hour session where they were taught some fundamental netball skills, drills and skills with a quick game at the end. The coach was fantastic braving the cold windy conditions and we hope she will come back again.

Volleyball

This week some of our year 4, 5 & 6 students were lucky to have a Volleyball Coach come to help teach specific volleyball skills and technique during our PE lesson. It was the first time we have had a Volleyball Coach come to our school. He was fantastic helping and assisting the students. We hope to have him back again!
