I hope this finds you keeping warm and active.

District Basketball - year 5 & 6

Congratulations to all of the students that participated in the Basketball tournament last Monday.  It was a really successful day and nice to walk around and see all of the students really engaged.  Congratulations goes to the year 6 All stars team who got through to the Grand final but came short of a win to Birralee PS. However, they still grabbed a place to move forward to the Division Finals in October, so watch this space.

Thank you to the parents that volunteered on the day…Ashley, Lisa, Rachelle, Katie, Winii, Christina and all of our teachers for their support also.

Anyone with a basketball top, if they could please bring this back ASAP and leave it on the table outside the PE and Learning Diversity Office (you will see others there) so they are ready for the year 4 tournament day.

District Basketball - year 4

The day for year 4 will be here before we know it.  An Operoo will have been sent out to parents and carers.  If you are able to help out on the day with coaching a team or scoring, this would be greatly appreciated.  This day will be Monday 11 September at Dandenong Stadium from 10 until 2pm.

Athletics Trials - Year 4-6

We have our Athletics Trials in preparation for the District Athletics coming up.  An Operoo will be sent out with regard to this shortly.  Again we are asking for any help from parents.  It will be held at Box Hill Track on Wednesday 9th August from 9 till 2pm.  Your help is very much appreciated.  We will be running this day alongside another District school (St Francis Xavier) so we will have many students giving many events a go.

Downball Trials

We will be running some downball trials over the coming week as we have entered a team into the Downball Tournament scheduled in Heathmont..  Unfortunately we only have 8 spots (4 for years 3-4 and 4 for 5-6 as per the Downball Tournament Rules). Students can add their names to the list on the Sport board if they haven’t already done so.  The Tournament will be run on Friday 11 August in Heathmont.

We will also be applying for a council grant to have Downball Australia come along and give us some extra lessons, seeing as Downball is a much loved sport at SJV.

Register to trial for Team Vic Track & Field

Spotlight on PE - Year 1 & 2 Soccer Clinic

The year 1 & 2’s have been participating in a soccer clinic run by Strike Soccer (which are affiliated with our after school program on a Thursday).  They have been showcasing their best dribbling, passing, stopping and kicking techniques and have been really engaged in their learning.  Nice work everyone!   If the students are keen to progress their skills, the Thursday soccer afternoon program will continue this term.  See below for details.
