Open Gardens

The P & F is excited to be holding an Open Garden fundraising event on 298 October, featuring two of the district's most magnificent historical homes and gardens: Arrandoovong Homestead and Ardgarten. The beautiful Arrandoovong Homestead was built in 1852 with the home and grounds having been painstakingly restored by David Wyner over the past six years. Ardgarten, built in 1857, features a beautiful Edna Walling garden commissioned and nurtured for four generations by the Youngman family. Min and Harry Youngman are kindly opening up their stunning garden, originally designed to compliment the Homestead, featuring a rose garden and picturesque views of their Grassdale property.

We look forward to music performances on the day from the many talented music students of The Hamilton and Alexandra College, as well as food, wine, homewares, flowers, potted plants and recipe book stalls, by businesses connected to our school community. Children will be treated to craft and garden activities. The day promises to be a wonderful event to fundraise for the creation of an outdoor garden space for the Middle Years campus where young people can congregate in an area designed to optimise their mental and physical well-being.

If you have any questions or ideas, please email the Open Garden coordinators Karley Cameron and Kate Cain at thacopengardens2023@gmail.com for more information.

Christmas cakes

We can’t quite believe it, but it’s almost Christmas Cake baking time already! We will be weighing and mixing ingredients in the Tim Murray Hall on 13 and 14 September and seek volunteers who would be willing to assist for a couple of hours or more in the morning.

Coffee and morning tea will be provided, and it is a wonderful chance to mingle with parents from both the Senior and Junior campuses and assist us in fundraising. The Christmas cakes are a district favourite and sold out very quickly last year! Our main production will take place between 9 and 13 October, with Baker’s Delight kindly baking the cakes for us once again this year. Please email us at PaF@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au if you are available on these dates to join the fun.

Tuck Shop - please welcome Liz

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome our new team member working with Sally in the Tuck Shop.  Liz is working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Welcome Liz!!!

We still welcome volunteers to join Sally in the Tuck Shop on a Monday or Tuesday to assist with the lunch orders (10am) and the ‘recess rush’ at 11am.  If you have a couple of hours spare, please click on the following link and book a date.

Hockey 7’s - BBQ

The P&F will be providing a sausage sizzle, fruit boxes and some home-baked goods for the children and parents at the Hockey 7’s event tomorrow, 11 August, at Pedrina Park. We are excited to be a part of this event and invite any parents who would like to wield some tongs on the day to email Karley Cameron at karley@iinet.net.au. Thank you to Karley and Doug and other parents who have volunteered to assist. Go College!

Second-Hand Uniform store

The second-hand uniform store will continue to be open from 3:30pm – 4:30pm on Mondays this term.  Alternatively, please get in touch with Zoe Price on 0400017565 to make an appointment to view any second-hand uniform items. The store is located on College Street, at the southeast corner of the Sports Centre (near the hockey field).

WhatsApp pages

The P&F is happy to have the Year level WhatsApp groups now running across the two campuses. This initiative enables new and current parents to connect socially and share year-specific information or ask questions. Parents in year levels 7-11 would have received an email with a link to join the WhatsApp pages. If you have not received this, please email Alana Brown at abrown@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.auto join. These pages have already proven useful for information sharing, reunions with lost uniform items, and welcoming new parents to the year levels.

As you can see, we have an extremely busy two terms coming up, and we thank all the parents and friends of the school that volunteer their time to make these things possible. The Middle Years outdoor space plans are in the development phase, and we very much look forward to sharing these designs with the community, especially the children, so that a tangible vision of this exciting and important development at the middle school will be available.
