Musical Notes
AMEB Examination
This is THE term for some of our major musical events, starting with Freaky Friday this week. Please come along with family and friends to support our production with Avila College. We hope to see you at the Alexander Theatre, Monash Uni.
This term includes ensembles playing at the VIC Schools Music Festival (VSMF), the Monash Youth Music Festival (MYMF), the Victorian Bands League (VBL) solos, our own Winter Recital Series and our Music Gala. For our Year 12 musicians this term is their final Gala.
It would be helpful if students could get to all scheduled rehearsals to prepare parts for all these events. Please take the time to check the music calendar and the relevant instrumental timetable.
Finally, to assist our music staff in preparing for our ensembles, please help your son to be at school in time for a 7.45am start. We need to have productive rehearsals!
Congratulations
Mazenod’s Haydn Quartet successfully passed an Australia-wide audition process to take part in Musica Viva’s “Strike A Chord” Masterclass which was held during the school holidays. This event was open to instrumental students across Australia. Congratulations to Leroy Chen (09 RYA), George Coyne (08 GAV), Nathaniel Coyne (09 SIM) and Shin Lim (09 GAV)

Junior Strings: All Year 7 Classroom Music string students – Monday mornings 7:45am
Double Bass Workshop: Monday lunchtime
Junior Flute Ensemble: Thursday mornings 7:45am
Senior Flute Ensemble: Thursday lunchtime

Term 3 timetables have been uploaded to MazCom. As we continue in the new semester, the possibility of changes to timetabling is highly probable. Please make sure your son checks MazCom on a regular basis so that they are following the most recent timetable.
