MOUNT ERIN BOARDING SCHOOL (MEBS)

Mount Erin Boarding School was established in 1890 by the Presentation Sisters.

It joins a number of well-known Boarding Schools that were established during this decade of the 19th Century - see the table that appeared in a recent Australian Boarding Schools Association booklet.

MEBS became a co-educational weekly Boarding House in 2004 when Kildare Catholic College and Mater Dei Catholic College were formed. Boys took up residence on what was the convent side of Mount Erin.

In 2023, Nagle House (Girls) and Rice House (Boys) were formed carrying on the legacy of excellence established at Mount Erin by the Sisters all those years ago

Early days - note the spire/ bell tower on the roof of what is currently Rice House - above the Convent entry door. It is no longer there due to a lightning strike during the 20th Century.
