Buddies

We are so excited to start a buddy program with the Year 5! This week, the students paired up with their buddies and were getting to know each other. Together, the buddies made books about themselves, took pictures, did some drawing, and made crafts. The interactions between the Year 5 and 1 were lovely, and they were upset when they had to leave each other at the end of the session. The buddy program will continue fortnightly this term and Year 1 cannot wait to see their buddies again! 

Fairy Tales

We read “The Ugly Duckling”, “Jack and the Beanstalk” and “The Three Little Pigs”. The students engaged in a range of activities, including making their own beanstalk, making their own houses and ducks, as well as innovating on the stories to add their own twists. We identified the author’s message in each of these fairy tales, and we discussed how each character could have a different perspective to the story.
