From Elly, Year 6 teacher
Poetry
Year 6 are focussing on the genre of poetry with a deep dive into poetry forms around the world. This included haiku, limericks and nursery rhymes.
Did you know that according to a number of military historians, Humpty Dumpty was the name of a cannon used by the Royalists during the English Civil War from 1642 to 1649. Humpty Dumpty was stationed on the walls of Colchester. It was one of several cannons erected to try and keep Parliament’s army from taking the city. The next month, however, the Parliamentary forces heavily damaged the walls beneath Humpty Dumpty with their own artillery. You can guess where this is going: Humpty Dumpty had a great fall and broke into pieces.

Siblings by Sena A
I hate my sister
It is a lie that siblings get along
I believe that siblings are just annoying
Stop saying
We love each other
I never doubt that
Life would be better as an only child
I will never agree that
My sister is important
I'll tell you this
Siblings are meant to help each other
But this is not true for me
Life is cruel
Only lonely people think
Siblings are irreplaceable
I would like to say that
My sister is worthless
I just can't admit that
Siblings will always be there for you
