Principal's Report

It certainly has been a wonderful start to Term 3, even despite the crisp mornings! Our Year 7 students arrived on day one at our new Kildare Campus bright eyed and ready for their new experience. Our new campus is beautiful, but like all new constructions, there is still some work to be done and we are working on it. Stage 2 has already started and before we know it we will be able to see construction above ground. We have already hosted a couple of afternoon tours at our new campus for Year 7 parents to view our state-of-the-art facilities and we look forward to inviting them back for some upcoming morning teas. Then, on Saturday 12 August, we will open our doors for a Welcome morning to allow all members of our community to experience what we have to offer at Kildare campus and I strongly encourage you to attend.

Term three has also already seen us embark on subject selection time. This is exciting for students, but it can also be a little unsettling as they work through the process of choosing next year's subjects. In the coming weeks the College will provide many opportunities for student support, whether it be at our Subject Selection Information Evening next week or through one-on-one meetings with our staff. There will be plenty of avenues for information gathering and support. I encourage families to discuss subjects and pathways with their child.

I commend our Year 10 students and the staff who attended the Year 10 Careers Camp to Melbourne last week; not only were they excellent ambassadors of the College, but they gained access to a plethora of workplaces and learning institutions. This experience further adds to the resources the Year 10s will draw on when making their subject choices for next year.

Schools are complex organisations, navigating over a thousand staff and students through each learning and teaching day is something we frequently celebrate. At times, in the course of a day or a week things may not go exactly to plan, but we are committed to improving. Our focus is always on our students, on occasion this may create a little discomfort or a little inconvenience, but it is in these moments where there are usually opportunities for growth or learning. We encourage staff, students and families to work in support of each other to move through these experiences and we also encourage open communication. If a parent/carer has a concern about school, please contact the College. We will endeavour to promptly address the concern.

God Bless.
