From the Principal

Over the last fortnight there have lots of different things happening around our school. Some of the highlights have included:

  • Our Foundation students visiting the Langwarrin CFA
  • Our Foundation students celebrating their 100 Days at school and them being joined by their Grandparents to celebrate this very special occasion.
  • We had our PFC Choc Top Day
  • Our Year 1s and 3s had a Science Incursion
  • Our Foundation students were involved in a Community Helpers day
  • Our Grade 2s had an excursion to Legoland

All of these experiences are an important way to better engage our kids with their learning and to grow a stronger sense of connectedness to their school.

Book Week

Mrs Mowat has been very busy planning our upcoming book week for next week.  Our Grade 5s and 6s have already had an incursion with a published and ex-student of Langy Park PS, Danielle Binks.

As part of our Book Week celebrations next week we will have our annual Book Fair in the library. This will be open before school and after school each day until Thursday.

On Monday we are encouraging all students to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.

On Thursday and Friday their will be Book Week related incursions happening for our P-4 students.

I would like to thank Mrs Mowat for organisation of our Book festivities. I know it will be an amazing week!

Further details about Book Week can be found in the Library section of this newsletter.

Parent/Carers/Guardian Survey

I would like to thank all our parents and carers who have taken the time to complete the Department of Education Parent/Carers/Guardian survey. It is open until 8th September and it does not take much time to complete. As I have previously communicated, this survey provides valuable data that we use to inform our future strategic planning priorities.

Please refer to previous communications for login details to this survey.

Year 4 Camp

As I write my report, our Grade 4s are currently on their City Camp. I would like to thank our Grade 4 team for organising this camp for our students. I would also like to thank those parents who have given up their time across the three days to attend this camp. By all reports, they had a great time!

Berry St Curriculum Day

Last Friday our staff were involved in the final Berry St training day. Over the last two years our staff have undertaken four days of evidence based training, which has focused on building their capabilities with supporting our students with their emotional regulation.

Our school's wellbeing team is coordinating an action plan on how these learnt strategies will be transferred into the classroom.

The strongest thing that resonated with me across the four days was the close links Berry St has with our THRIVE framework and the importance for taking a strengths based approach to student wellbeing.

We are now over half way through Term 3 and we have achieved so much already! I continue to encourage you all to maintain a positive attitude and support with your kids, because this makes a massive difference on their learning. Continue to support and look after your child's teacher, because they are all working incredibly hard to ensure they have the greatest possible on your child/ren.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Cheers,

Richard
