FIFA World Cup Fashion Parade

Congratulations to the students (and your families for their help) who created an original costume to model for the Fashion Parade.  While no prizes were given out for best dressed or people’s choice, the following students have been congratulated with a certificate of recognition, and a small handbook and poster from the Football Australia coaches who have been here coaching our clinics for your efforts (they were most proud of the commitment put into costume design for the occasion!):

Isabella A (Year 5)

A supporter of the green and gold.

Alanah C (Year 4)

Player #5 with a shirt created of pompoms and ribbons.  “This was a Mum-And-Me activity”.

Stephanie L (Year 4)

Creator of a Matilda’s Montage T-shirt/

“Mum helped me with the hot iron bits, but I’m a big supporter of Cooney-Cross, Kerr and Fowler!”

Billie C (Year 4)

“Player 21”.  This was a day’s worth of work that Billie created all by herself and something she is still able to wear again up town!

Harlie B, Isabelle N (Year 4) and Evie N (Prep)

A triple act!

Team “The Moons”. “We are an all-girl team, complete with a coach / ref (Evie).  We are modelling a team kit (Harlie) and training kit (Isabelle), and have come with our medals and the actual World Cup!”

3.5 hrs worth of work had gone into these outfits + drying time for the paint.

Learning in Physical Education

After our soccer clinics, students from all learning areas are continuing to learn different skills Physical Education.  Preps are continuing hand-eye coordination with the help of some friends in MLA, counting and recording their weekly practise.  Please be aware this will become homework over the holidays for Preps.

JLA and MLA students are touching on Water Safety in a variety of aquatic environments, thru PowerPoint presentations in the classroom, with assessment of learning being carried out shortly.  Please ask your students what they have learnt during their PE lessons about Water Safety.

SLA students are starting their Peer Coaching unit, designing lessons to teach their Prep buddy classes “how to do” the activities they will be participating in at the Athletics Carnival. SLA students are also continuing their endurance practise and discussions surrounding Women in Sport. This is part of the curriculum, so please discuss your students’ learning with them at home – all topics are relevant to girls AND boys!

If at anytime your student is feeling unwell or are injured in a way that will stop them from giving their best effort in Physical Education, can you PLEASE SEND A WRITTEN NOTE with them outlining their limitations.  This helps me to change the lesson for them SAFELY so that their condition does not worsen.  I know a plaster cast, band aide or wrist guards is a very obvious and serious injury, but that does not give me enough information to allow me to continue the learning safely with your student.  If you have read this newsletter piece, please ask your student to come and see me for a prize!
