Parent Information

Welcome to Ms. McAleer

Hello GSPV Community. I'm Ms Mac and it is my absolute pleasure to be taking on the role of Performing Arts Teacher. I have a passion for the Lord and His work in all our lives, as well as a great love for musical theatre and all things creative. I studied classical voice at university, and I have since studied opera in Melbourne and musical theatre in London. This term, I am extremely excited to be directing the Junior School showcase, which will be announced officially next week, so watch this space! Thank you everyone for the warm welcome I have received already. God bless.

Save the date

Ticketing information will be coming out in the next week for this school community event. Individual tickets and tables of 10 will be available. Get excited!

Trivia Night Advertising

To assist with the advertising of our trivia night, we would love to create a video in several languages to promote the evening. If you are a native speaker of Punjabi, Hindi, Mandarin or English and would be happy to come into school to be briefly videoed reading the promo script in your native tongue, please send an email to Therese Abraham. (therese.abraham@gspv.sa.edu.au)

Volunteers and Training

The many wonderful community events that occur throughout the year, for example the Welcome Party, Mother's and Father's Day Stalls, Men’N’Minors Camp, Wine and Cheese nights to name a few, are 100 per cent parent lead and run!

Without our amazing community of parents these events would cease to exist. Remember to thank the volunteers you see, as it’s their hard work and dedication that keep this amazing community connection going!

Volunteers are always needed and welcomed.

Do you have a calling or interest to assist with an existing event? We’d love to hear from you! Do you have an idea for a new event?

We’d love to hear from you!  Contact our administration team to submit a new idea or to put your name forward to assist with an existing event, either by dropping into the office, phoning through, or emailing admin@gspv.sa.edu.au

Here are the steps to becoming a newregistered volunteer:

Step 1: Organise a Working With Children Check (WWCC).  Complete the form below and bring to the school office with your 100pt identification.

Step 2: Complete the Valuing Safe Communities online training. This takes approximately 30 minutes.  Please note that the certificate issued at the end of the training is to be shown to School's front office staff for verification. Instructions on accessing the online training  can be found via the attachment below.

Step 3: Read the following policies from our school website here

Step 4: Complete the declaration form below to declare that you have read these policies. This is to also be brought to the School's front office.

Please contact the front office if you are planning to attend one of these sessions or if you are interested in the training.

Ongoing Volunteers – please read the policies and return a copy of the Volunteer Declaration form (this is required annually due to legislation changes that impact policy).

Father's Day Stall

We are so excited to offer the Father's Day stall again this year. It will be happening at Good Shepherd on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of Week 6 in Term 3 after lunch, during classroom, with each class having an allocated time to come visit and shop! See poster attached for more details. Please send money along with your children by Tuesday 29 August in a named envelope for your child's teacher.

A team of volunteers have been busy organising to make this possible; however, we can't do it without you! We need parent helpers in Week 6 to help man the stall... so we are looking for Mum's and Dad's to help man the stall on Tuesday 29 Aug, Wednesday 30 Aug, and Thursday 31 Aug from 12.00 pm – 3.00 pm to make this possible. How about seeing if you can get 2 hours off of work to help out, which will give you the chance to see the kids excited faces' when they have the lovely opportunity to buy something special for their Dad? Please see attached flyer for more details and who to contact...we'd love to hear from you.

Thanks, the Fathers Day Stall Organising Team.

Book Week 2023

We are very excited to be celebrating Children’s Book Week this year.

Our Book Week Parade will be happening on Friday week 5, 25 August at 8.45 am.

Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character. If students are dressing up they MUST also have a copy of the book that their character appears in, a copy of the front cover of the book will also be accepted.

Please note, we do not expect you to spend a lot of money on costumes. Get creative, using items that you may already have, or try your local op shop. You can find some great simple ideas online at sites like Pinterest.

There will also be a designated area for parents to come and watch if you are able.

Keep your eye out for other special Book Week events and activities in the weeks to come.

Growing Faith at Home

Today’s GFH title is ‘Jesus is the greatest treasure’. Here are some questions from the resource: What is treasure? How precious is Jesus to you? How precious are you to him?

I was able to read Pastor Reid’s latest book in the school break and it got me thinking… We are indeed precious to Jesus. We are valuable in his eyes. How might our relationships with each other be influenced if we saw the value in each other (as Jesus does)?

Have a lovely week everyone!

Blessings,

Georgie
