Harmony Week

Harmony Week runs from the 15th-21st March and celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. This year's theme is, Everyone Belongs. It is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we are raising awareness by celebrating this and working to maintain it. Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.  The theme of this year’s Catholic Education week is, The Future is Listening- and is celebrated at the same time. These shared celebrations have themes that are explicitly linked and it is for this reason we are celebrating both simultaneously. The students at St Brigid’s Primary are our future, and if we can help raise awareness and support them to listen to others it is just possible that Australia will remain  one of the most harmonious and multicultural countries in the world.  This is an investment in promoting a sense of belonging for everyone, and valuing the wellbeing of all of those around us.  Students will be participating in a variety of activities in classrooms during the week.

Clean Up Australia Action

On Tuesday our intrepid and environmentally conscious Wellbeing Representatives, Sustainability Leaders and Lillian Trinh headed off to George Woods to participate in Clean Up Australia Day action. With gloves, tongs and rubbish bags in hand, Mrs Mertens and myself spent the afternoon with 'eagle- eyed rubbish detectives', maintaining the wellbeing of our community resource. Look at all the rubbish we collected!
