Message from the Principal

Achieving Excellence Together

Dear Families,

Just like that, we have reached the end of Term 2. Despite being the shortest term this year we have managed to enjoy some fantastic experiences across the year levels including visits to the Dream City, the Melbourne Museum, and the Royal Botanical Gardens. On top of that students participated in NAPLAN online, represented our school at District Soccer, and of course, continued to strive for excellence together in their learning each day. This week, teachers were provided time to commence planning for term 3 which promises to be equally exciting for all.

Tonight, we will be hosting our second Parent-Teacher Interview evening. I'd like to thank families for accessing the Compass Portal to book a time with your child's teacher and understand more about their progress and next steps in their learning. Families are reminded that each student's new learning goals are recorded in their Semester Report which can be accessed through Compass. Students will commence uploading their goals and progress to achievement on Seesaw from next term.

New Class

Our school’s reputation as the school of choice for many in our community has seen our enrolments continue to grow over the last 6 months. We are thrilled to be welcoming new members into our school community and look forward to continuing our strong home-school partnerships as we strive to achieve excellence together.  As our school population grows, we are committed to ensuring every student has the best possible learning opportunities including adequate support and challenge within and beyond the classroom. For this reason, commencing on the first day of Term 3 we will be introducing an additional Prep class led by Ms. Heidie Watts. This class will be known as Prep W (PW). Ms. Watts is an expert teacher who has had a long-standing career across various teaching and leadership positions in Victorian government schools and most recently has been a Literacy Intervention Specialist at our school. This decision has been made in the best interest of our students at the centre and we are confident that they will continue to succeed in their new class.

Prep Enrolment 2023

Our school community continues to grow with enough enrolments for 2 prep classes in 2023 already confirmed. We are continuing to accept pre-enrolments for students in and out of our zone before we confirm student enrolments early next term. If you have a child that is school age in 2023 or know of someone who does, we highly encourage you to submit your pre-enrolment now to confirm their place. Pre-enrolments can be submitted through our school website or by calling 9367 2197

Road Safety

There have been a number of complaints lately from students, parents, and the wider community about unsafe driving around the school during pick-up and drop-off times. Parents are encouraged to follow all road rules and drive with extra caution during these times focussing on the intensified risk of having so many children around. Illegal parking, U-turns, and other unsafe behaviour is, and will continue to be reported to Victoria Police as we seek to maximise the safety of all members of our community. Your support with this is greatly appreciated.

School Holidays

Students and staff will break for the school holidays on Friday 24th of June at 2:30pm. School will resume Monday 11th July at 9:00am. Parents requiring outside school hours care for the earlier finish or during school holidays are requested to contact our outside hour's care service provider Big Childcare on 8682 9400

Please note that despite the school being closed over the break you may notice some activity on site as we have construction and maintenance works taking place during this time.

Finally, I'd like to thank each of you for supporting our ongoing work to provide the best possible learning to every student, every day. Despite many families being challenged with illness, we are grateful to have remained open and onsite all year so far and returned to some semblance of 'normal'. I wish you all a safe and enjoyable break that helps you recharge and feel eager for the remainder of the year.
