Class News

It has been a busy few weeks in the Class schedule with assessments, reporting and new staff.  Well done to everyone for maintaining focus as we near the end of term; it's definitely more challenging as the days become shorter and colder...and occasionally wet!

Next term is going to be even busier for our students with large portions of time out of the classroom for NW Tour, Country Week and field days.  We need to ensure we make good use of our limited time in the classroom, particularly our Year 12 General students who finish at the end of Term 3.

Drones - Mrs Sarah Aynsley

A group of Year 12 students are currently completing their RePL (Remote Pilot's Licence) that will allow them to use drones within industry, including agriculture, mining and real estate.  As part of the course, they are required to log 5 hours of drone flying time.  This week we took out the DJI Mini 2 and captured some images of the thick fog cloaking the school grounds.

English - Ms Georgia Sharpe

Recently in the English area, the Year 12 General students have been getting job-ready.  In this process, they have been crafting resumes and cover letters by reflecting on their past experiences, including many positive experience they have had here at the College.

Reading the examples in their cover letters, has provided a great insight into the diverse experiences they receive at the College and those they have brought with them from previous work.  The ATAR groups have just finished their exams and commenced their Semester 2 units; I implore you to continue working hard to keep progressing through the course.  The Year 11 General students have just commenced a short story study and I look forward to seeing their analytical readings as we look into broader social issues.

West Coast Fever (WCF) Cup- Ms Lizzy Tait

On Thursday, we sent three team of Year 11 and 12 girls to the WCF Cup in Northam. Earlier in the week, we were fortunate enough to run a specialist coaching session with our newest relief teacher, Morgan Styles.  Ms Styles plays for Rangers in the West Australian Netball League (WANL) and has also represented WA in the National Mixed Netball Championships earlier in the year.

Congratulations to all teams on their amazing sportsmanship whilst playing against the other schools in the competition.  A huge shout-out to the Green Team for making finals against Merredin College.  Ms Tait was so proud of your conduct on and off the court.

Thank you to Ms Tait, Ms Sharpe, Ms Arnott and Ms Christopherson for driving buses, umpiring, coaching and running the support services!
