Year 7 Drama

The Year 7 Drama course develops important skills used in verbal communication, physical movement and thinking creatively. The year long course encourages creativity through drama and an appreciation of live performance. There are opportunities to build confidence and self-esteem as students experience success and enjoyment in devising, sharing and reflecting upon their creative learning. There is a strong focus throughout this course on developing the skills to work collaboratively and constructively with a range of peers.Ā

Ā

Drama in Year 7 is concerned with developmental processes rather than an end product.Ā

It is focussed on learnersā€™:

  • Growth of self confidence
  • Growth of sensitivity and consideration towards others
  • Growth of spontaneity and resourcefulness
  • Growth and flexible use of language
  • Development of commitment to a group and to seeing through a task
  • Development of understanding and use of dramatic techniques.

Ā

Students will gain an introduction to Drama through improvisation and co-operative games. They will develop speaking skills in formal and impromptu situations. They will employ movement, storytelling and dramatic skills to shape stories and communicate with an audience.Ā
