On Friday 17th June, the Year 12 students were fortunate enough to have presenters from two different organisations speak to them about their mental wellbeing and how to prepare themselves for their exams and life after secondary school.
Steph Hartshorn who works for Youthrive Victoria as the Rural Youth Network Engagement Leader spoke to the students about how she managed Year 12 and some of the strategies she used to organise her year and balance her lifestyle. Steph also introduced them to the Rural Youth Network website which has a wealth of information for students about linking up with mentors, scholarships and up and coming events that the students may be interested in. Steph is available to support any students who are interested in linking up with her through the network.
Our second presenters were Celeste and Victoria, two psychologists from Headspace. Celeste and Victoria spoke to the students about what Headspace has to offer our local youth. They visited the Headspace website to show them what resources are available such as interactive exercises and tips on improving sleep and understanding emotions. Our students were also told that through Headspace they can access support for their work and study goals, and they can join chat rooms or chat privately with professional counsellors if they wish.
