PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Dear Families

Winter:

Well it’s well and truly with us!! A few reminders for us all:

  • Let’s dress warm. This may mean, for some, packing a jumper in the bag if you have a child who does not feel cold on these Wintery days.
  • When a child is sick they need to be at home to recover and this will diminish the “sharing” of germs.
  • If driving please take care especially around any school.
  • If your child is riding (Year 4 and above) on their own please remind them to slow down and watch for cars and pedestrians. We have had reports of over exuberant riders forgetting to walk the bikes once they arrive at the school fence and also forgetting to share the footpath with pedestrians. Near misses are upsetting for drivers, walkers and riders.
  • The school beanies not only look great but are warm. The beanies are for outside use which is a reminder we regularly give.
  • Assembly on Friday is very weather dependant. If we are unable to be outside the Multi-Purpose room cannot accommodate both students and parents so the only viable alternative is to hold announcements etc via the school P.A. system.

Interviews:

I am currently reading reports from all classes. They reflect a lot of learning and also the development of our students in the areas of social and emotional areas. The transition back to school has been smooth but it has been a gradual one for some of our students. The need to report on what has happened in student’s learning is important but for me the need to look at the future learning is even more important.

One thing we all learnt over the past 2 years is the ability of learning to happen and be supported at home. Families did a terrific job during home learning. Let’s continue to support the child’s learning at both home and school.

Details of booking a parent teacher interview will be out shortly. As always this will be via SENTRAL. We try to accommodate all family situations but can only schedule one time per family. If the day or times do not suit please contact the staffroom teacher to “book” a time.

Planning Day:

Just a reminder that day one term 3, July 11, has been designated as a Planning Day for our school via the Department. Hopefully this gives families enough time to adjust to the issues that are presented.

Puberty Sessions:

The 5 / 6 students are currently undertaking these important sessions. Year 4 information session is scheduled for next week. Children may come home with some questions or even information for parents!!!! Please ask them how it is going and engage in any discussion which may arise. The need to be proactive in this area is obvious.

Attitudes to School Survey:

This annual survey will be given to the Year 4, 5 and 6 students this week. Details have been sent to parents / carers with details. This is feedback to us from the students covering a number of areas about the school, their grade and themselves.

We use the survey in conjunction with the Parent and Staff surveys to gain a balanced reflection of the school. This informs any changes or directions to be considered.
