Springfield

We were thrilled to spot Practice Principal Carissa with one of her young friends featured on a larger than life billboard in Springfield Central! 

Murarrie

On 27 June 2022 in Regents Park Murarrie, ESA Murarrie ran our new group - Connect with Sports. This was a specialist session run by Young Sports Australia in partnership with ESA’s OTs and Speech Pathologists aimed at children aged 6 -10 years.  

Derek Young runs Young Sports (https://www.youngsports.com.au/) – which offers sports clinics at day care centres and schools to teach children the range of sports skills to instil in children a love of sports. He has been an accredited tennis coach for more than 20 years.

Derek noted that he always had one or two children within his coaching groups that couldn’t fully engage and participate as the other children could.  He wanted to learn more about how to support children with differences in how they learn and approached Liselle Sidhu who is the practice principal at Early Start Australia at Toowong and Murarrie. 

Together they created an event to bring the joy of sports and the social connection for children who may often struggle to attend sporting activities.

There were so many skills that the children built through the morning - connections with peers, problem solving and motor co-ordination, just to name a few! We’ll be running this again in September school holidays – dates and times will come out soon.
