Principals Report

- Sarah Rose, Principal

Welcome back for what is set to be a packed second half of the school year.  It is wonderful to see and hear the classrooms and schoolyard full again buzzing with chatter and activity.

For our VCE students, semester two is the last big push for them as they complete their final study unit and head towards exams. We’re confident they’re all focused and we have solid structures in place to support them.

Our year 9 and 10 students are gearing up for important decisions that will support and inform their chosen pathways with the course selection process about to commence.  We’re excited to be holding our Subject Expo event onsite next week with all students and families encouraged to attend. Please ensure you read all course selection documentation carefully and are aware of key dates and requirements.

Towards the end of Term 2, the Department of Education extended the deadline for schools to complete students reports to early in the first week of Term 3.  I'm pleased to advise that Semester 1 Reports have been finalised and will be available for families to access tomorrow, Friday 15th July.  Access is via the XUNO portal and specific instructions will be sent to families once the reports are 'live'.

We will continue to see plenty of activity in the capital works space as we plan and prepare for the major works to commence across the college.  Over the holiday break the installation of shade sails between the Library and B-Block Learning Centre commenced – it will be wonderful to have these in place before we move into spring and summer.

NAIDOC Week is an important event on the College calendar where we usually arrange activities to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures. While we weren't able to do this because NAIDOC Week 2022 fell during the term break, we are in the process of organising some special events including a smoking ceremony for our college community to be involved in.  I look forward to sharing more details about this with you in due course.

Finally, I’m conscious that as with last term, this term will be challenging for families and in the running of the college as we’re all impacted by the spread of illness throughout the broader community. At the operational level of the college, we will continue to do our absolute best to ensure continuity of student learning if and when staff are absent. Your continued patience and support of the school is truly appreciated. I do ask that families are considerate of the whole school community and keep students at home if they are unwell. Take care of yourselves and do reach out to the college if you require support.
