SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING CHALLENGE

Mrs Tanya Atherton

Yesterday, 32 budding Engineers from Years 9 and 10 put their hands up to represent the College at the annual Science and Engineering Challenge. With limited preparation, our students took to the challenges with great enthusiasm.

Students were engaged in: building bridges, designing towers to withstand an earthquake, building a bionic hand, constructing a Mars buggy, planning transport networks, creating functional codes for communication, building a model turbine and providing low cost electricity to power a city. In the words of Mr Neil Gray (our inspirational leader) - "WHAT A HOOT!!"

We are proud to announce that our team WON the Challenge on the day, and, as of yesterday afternoon, are the highest scoring team in WA. We are eagerly awaiting the results from today's competitors to see whether or not we will be able to represent WA at the Australian Finals in Bendigo, VIC!

It was a fabulous experience and Mr Julien Hunt and I loved watching the enthusiasm and engagement of our students.
