Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Due to the Queen's Birthday public holiday, please note that there will be no school or OSHC on Monday 13th June.

Congratulations to all our students who ran in last week's Division Cross-Country in Wodonga.  Congratulations to all students on their resilience and achievement, particularly under such cold and wet conditions.  Our best wishes also to Mac, Nate, Bianca and Hamish, who all qualified to compete in next Friday's regional final in Benalla.

Due to this week's postponement, the first of our Music Showcase performances will be held next Wednesday 15th June from 2.30-3.15pm, in the under-cover area and will feature performances from our Prep and 5/6 classes.  We hope to see you there!

Next Wednesday, students in 5/6 will also have the opportunity to attend a presentation with Australian of the Year, Dylan Alcott.  Dylan will also be presenting at a Community event at 7pm on the 15th June, at the Myrtleford Savoy Club.  For more information and registration, please click here.

In order to raise funds to support the care for sick, injured and vulnerable koalas and to help create and maintain wildlife corridors, next Friday,  the17th June SRC are running a special dress up day. Students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite Australian Animal and to bring along a gold coin donation.

We have a new member at our school and they need a name!  Suggestions can be entered into the box outside the office.

Thanks to the Alpine Shire, the Resilience Project will be giving a special parent and community presentation on Wednesday 22nd June from 6.30-8.00pm at West Peak Hotel.  Please register for this event here.

To celebrate the end of term, Friday 24th June, will be a casual dress day.  A reminder that school will finish at the earlier time of 2.20pm on this day.

Other Reminders:

*We are still collecting old runners for recycling, as part of our  'Tread Lightly' campaign to reduce landfill.  Alternatively, you can also drop off your shoes at participating stores.  To read more about this program, please see this link.  Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this cause.  If anyone is travelling to Albury and able to drop off shoes, we would really appreciate it!

*RATs may still be collected from the office through until the end of term.  It is recommended that RATs are used by students when symptomatic. RATs are also required to be used for 5 days if a student is a close contact of a confirmed case and they are attending school. Families are no longer required to undertake twice-weekly testing of non-symptomatic students, but are required to continue to notify the Department of Health and the school if your child returns a positive RAT result. Additionally, you should inform us if any of your children are household contacts.

nb. Students aged 8 and older, who are household contacts, are required to wear a mask indoors.

*Please continue to check and update any new or past student absences via the Compass portal.
