1/2M

Welcome back to on-site school! It has been wonderful to have all the students back in the classroom. As I have mentioned before, I am immensely proud of the students and their continued dedication to their learning during the lockdown. Their enthusiasm to learn has also been evident in the classroom. They have returned engaged and focused in all their learning tasks.

Literacy

During remote learning, the students have been learning about adjectives, nouns and verbs. The activities have provided many opportunities for the students to write creative sentences that contain these parts of speech. Back in the classroom, the students have continued writing their reply letters to their pen pals and are eager to post them back to Sydney.

Maths

In Math, our focus has been on the concept of the duration of time. How long does it take to do something in seconds, minutes, hours and days? In order to understand how long a minute is, the students had a few challenges to complete, such as how many blocks can you connect in a minute? How many star jumps can you do in a minute?

Education in Faith

In the Beginning picture book by Andrew Chinn has prompted great discussion about the story of the Creation in the book of Genius. During these discussions, the students have made the connection that Bunjil the Indigenous Creator in the Welcome to Country picture book by Aunty Joy Murphy and God are the same. Both God and Bunjil created the land, the waterways and the animals. The students sang and did the actions to Andrew Chinn's song In the Beginning and then drew their favourite part of the Creation.
