Respectful Relationships

Respectful Relationships supports schools and early childhood settings to promote and model respect, positive attitudes and behaviours. It teaches our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.

St Francis Xavier School was fortunate to be elected a Lead School in 2017 and since then, we have hosted a number of forums for the Southern Peninsula region and assisted our Partner schools to successfully implement the program.

The Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program is implemented across our school from Prep to Year 6 and we are proud to see the impact it has had on our school community since its explicit instruction.

The topics covered last term were Emotional Literacy - gaining the ability to understand, express and manage our own emotions, as well as building empathy towards others, and Personal Strengths - recognising and understanding strengths and positive qualities in ourselves and others.

This term our focus is Positive Coping - identifying and discussing productive coping strategies to be used in a range of challenging situations.
