From the Principal

Remote schooling 16th July to the 20th July.

LOCKDOWN ALERT / REMOTE SCHOOL

Dear IPS Community,

The Victorian Government has announced a five lockdown from 11.59pm tonight.

Your child will use the platform they used in the last snap lockdown and your child’s teacher will be in contact though Class Dojo.

School Arrangements will be as follows:

Friday 16th :  Remote school – teachers will do their best to have something in place tomorrow. There should be a Class Dojo check in link available by 9.15am in the morning.

Monday 19th : Remote school

Tuesday 20th : Remote school

Wednesday 21st : onsite schooling

Only children of Essential Workers may attend school where they will be participating in the same program as their peers. Essential Workers are those who were considered Essential Workers last time.

The lockdown is “hard and fast” and the numerous hotspots that have sprung up necessitate that we will be extremely diligent in applying the essential worker rule. If you can stay at home you must stay at home. “Retail is shut”.

If you are an Essential Worker and you require onsite school tomorrow you must speak to myself of Ms Wright who will be on the Lowe Street pedestrian gate tomorrow morning at 9am OR if you use OSHC drop your child off and phone us on 94991880 between 9 and 9.30am.

If you require Monday and/or Tuesday you must contact the school office tomorrow morning to complete the necessary paperwork. Please do not be offended if you are required to prove your Essential Worker status.

Remember this is a five-day lockdown only so avoid panic and additional stress and do what you can. We understand this is a stressful time. It is a challenge for all of us.

Many of the staff are yet to be able to be vaccinated, many are parents too so we understand the pressures. However, it is important to do the right thing and if we follow the restrictions this will be over and we can once again move forward as a school.

Once again I remind you we are all in this together.

Welcome to Ivanhoe PS

Dear parents

IPS is a great school with a welcoming and engaged community of students, staff and families. While we continue to lead by example through the current pandemic I thank you all for your continued support and  understanding as we strive to maintain routines, healthy mindsets and excellent programs. I am confident that by working together every student  will thrive in this stimulating environment.

Today Mary Zhou who is Zachary's (1M) grandmother sent me some sketches she had made of various school events. How wonderful to see the school from someone else's eyes. I think they have captured the beauty of the primary years of schooling.

Thank you Mary. There is something magical about your drawings.

Thank you to the staff and parents who attended Year 5 school camp to Coonawarra in the last week of Term 2. It was fantastic to hear the wonderful stories for students and staff and I daresay we will share some of these reflections in up coming issues of "Inside Ivanhoe".

Parent / Teacher Conferences

Parent / Teacher Conferences will be held online next week. Online bookings have been opened with parents having the flexiblity to arrange times that suit all parties. Please contact your child's teacher or the office if you are unsure how to book.

A reminder that all adults, including staff, on entering school grounds must  check in using the QR codes. Face Masks must be worn in all buildings. You are encouraged to wear your mask outside in the school grounds. (Please socially distance and leave the school grounds as quickly as you are able).

Year 6 Canberra Camp  - POSTPONED

Due to the current restrictions affecting NSW and Canberra, and consequently Victoria, we have had no choice but to abandon the Canberra tour scheduled for 26th July to the 30th July.  We believe that it is important following a tumultuous 2020 and rough start to 2021 that your children can attend camp or a special event in their final year of Primary School. we have been able to reschedule the Canberra Camp for the week beginning the 4th of October 2021.

Finally - WHEN WE COME BACK

It is fabulous to see everyone back at school. Please continue to do all you can to keep us all safe - including driving sensibly in the drop off streets, not using driveways to turn around in and using the kiss and go zones appropriately.

Thank you
