Literacy Workshops
During 2020/2021 QoP has been unable to provide workshops on THRASS (Teaching Handwriting, Reading & Spelling Skills) with P-2 families due to COVID-19. So we would like to provide an alternative opportunity with the first of two informative videos to support your child/children.
Denyse Ritchie who you will see and hear is the co-author of this practice. The video shows how the picture chart tool is used, its key components and the specific knowledge and understanding of the speech sounds and spelling choices. As a reminder, all the teachers (P-6) are confidently trained and continue to explicitly teach this practice.
Please feel free to call me if you have any further questions.
Here is the Overview Link:-
This is the second informative video to support your child/children with reading and spelling.
Denyse Ritchie talks us through on how we introduce the THRASS chart. It is a powerful tool and is designed to show the 44 phonemes of spoken English and the 120 most common graphemes of written English.
If you would like to purchase a THRASS chart, let me know. It costs $7:00.
Warmest regards

Fathers Day Stall
The annual Father’s Day stall will be a little different this year and will held online via Quickcliq. A sample of each gift will be taken to each classroom and each child will be given a printout “wishlist” for them to complete and bring home to parents for online ordering. We would love to have volunteers to help pack and distribute these gifts to each child/class. A volunteer request will go out shortly via Operoo. Gifts will be ordered per family and distributed to the eldest child on the Wednesday before father’s day. I’m sure our children will be very excited to see the goodies and help put the order in!
We have also been busy organising the School Disco which will be held on 10th of September in the school hall. Keep an eye out for further details closer to the time, but keep the date free!
There will also be a Movie Night held on 23 September in the school hall. Melissa has been working hard to work out the details for what should be a fantastic night, so mark the date on your calendar!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support.
