From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Term 3 and lockdowns have again presented challenges for our families, students and teachers. As a school community we have done extremely well in meeting many of those challenges, and in working in partnership with each other, we will continue to do so.
Whilst hearing the lockdown news on leave in sunny North Queensland, it was reassuring to me knowing the staff at Queen of Peace would manage the situation together. A special thank you to Michael Ozbun for his leadership as acting Principal during this time.
It was wonderful to hear the sounds of learning and laughter as we returned to school on Wednesday. Queen of Peace was full of chatter and excitement as the children returned. It was pleasing to see how well the students adapted to their changing circumstances which was an indication of their resilience and flexibility. Although not an ideal situation, the continued provision of quality learning was only made possible due to the continued partnership between teachers and families.
The new playground has now been completed together with the Student toilet renovations. These works have been completed to a high standard. I'm sure the children will have great fun exploring the new playground.
As we return to “normal” school life there will be some amendments to planned events. Confirmation, Year 6 camp and other dates all need to be rescheduled. We will keep you informed as information comes to hand.
FASTER HIGHER STRONGER TOGETHER
I found it touching and appropriate that the Olympic Opening ceremony focussed on health workers and front line workers in the global response to Covid 19. I am thankful for the expertise, dedication and compassion of these workers, particularly those in our community.
The amendment to the Olympic motto after 120 years also seems to hit the right tone. Faster, Higher, Stronger, Together resonates with me as it celebrates the relationships and interconnectedness we share globally and locally. Of course, as I thought about “Together” I thought of our parents and teachers working in partnership through this lockdown
Warm regards
