Pastoral Care Worker News

I went on an adventure recently.  I attempted to do the Willunga Basin Trail from Aldinga to Sellicks Beach on a bike.

My adventure started because I said yes to it.

It took longer than I expected. I had to push my bike over a tough sandy path through the forest for far too long. I had to awkwardly lift my bike over gate obstacles, up steep steps and tolerate riding over bumpy uncomfortable stoney ground.

Not every adventure is exciting and you have to tackle adversity within it, often needing different tools, skills and strengths.

My challenges on this adventure, were an adventure in itself.

I had to find the courage to persist, not let exhaustion and stress steal my excitement and exhilaration that I felt from achieving my adventure. To press into the good that comes with the difficult.

I experienced cycling on a beach for the first time, seeing wildlife in the forest, check the beauty of the coast and feel the wind in my hair.

There is treasure to be found in the toughest circumstances. I could have let anxiety and fear of the unknown steal me from the joy of the ride, because I was unsure of what the challenge entailed and I am glad I didn’t.

May I encourage you to find the challenges/adventures you can do in your life, equip yourself, and enjoy seeing where they take you.

Afternoon Tea

You are invited to drop in for a cup of tea/coffee, cake and a chat.  A good opportunity to meet other parents/carers and relax in a friendly environment before picking up your child/children.  Held in the Conference Room, Penney Unit (behind the Canteen).  I look forward to seeing you there.
